Découvrez les métiers de Sediver à travers les témoignages de ceux qui y travaillent au quotidien.
Who are you?
I am Eric Liu and I’m a controller of SEDIVER. And I have worked at our company for three years. I was born in China, and I arrived in France 25 years ago.
Your job description in a few words:
The data is only useful when it’s used to guide actions. So, my job is to take the raw materials- that data, and to make analyses, then feed them to decision-makers: our commercial team, the operations team, the management…
A key skill (essential) for doing your job?
To be a good controller, I think one needs to be curious. Someone who knows how to use spreadsheets, who can navigate through different systems, and who helps the other functions can be a decent controller. But for me, a good controller is someone who do more than just looking at the numbers: when there is a problem, talk to the involved people, go to the roots of the problem and find a solution.
What do you like most about your job and our work environment?
What I like most about our work and our environment is the diversity. SEDIVER is not a big company, but we are present in a lot of countries. And we have people of very diverse backgrounds. Take the example of La Défense where I am based: people here can speak at least 15 different languages. That is a huge richness to the organization. And I really enjoy that.
What advice would you give to someone considering joining us?
It’s a personal suggestion to anyone, not only to a future finance team member, but to any one in any organization: when you join a new position, you probably have a job description. Do not consider it as an exhaustive list. Instead, ask questions, take initiatives to solve problems. Do not stop at the so-called personal territory of your work.
