SEDIVER announces new manufacturing facility to strengthen Canada’s electrical infrastructure.
Blackstone-backed company’s landmark investment advances local manufacturing and the energy transition
Paris, France – 25 August 2026
SEDIVER, the global leader in high-voltage glass insulator technology, today announced plans to establish its first manufacturing facility in Canada. The landmark investment will expand the company’s North American manufacturing footprint while strengthening the resilience, security, and sustainability of Canada’s electricity transmission supply chain.
The facility is being designed as a world-class manufacturing center, incorporating advanced production technologies, industry-leading quality systems, and the operational excellence standards that have made SEDIVER a trusted supplier to transmission utilities across the world. The location will be determined, and construction is set to commence Q4/2026. The development of the facility is expected to create 120 direct jobs. Once operational, the facility will enhance local manufacturing capabilities, support skilled employment opportunities, and provide domestic utilities with greater access to Canadian-produced, high-performance SEDIVER transmission insulators.
The investment underscores SEDIVER’s long-term commitment to Canada and aligns with the country’s plans to modernize and expand its power grid to support electrification, economic growth, renewable energy integration, and energy security.
For more than fifty years, SEDIVER has partnered with Canadian utilities to help build and maintain one of the world’s most reliable transmission systems. Today, approximately 16 million SEDIVER glass insulators are installed across Canadian transmission networks, supporting critical infrastructure from coast to coast.
As electricity demand rises and investment in transmission infrastructure accelerates, reliable domestic manufacturing capacity and resilient supply chains have become increasingly strategic. SEDIVER’s new Canadian facility will bring advanced manufacturing closer to customers and strengthen North America’s ability to support the next generation of transmission infrastructure.
“This investment reflects our strong confidence in Canada’s future and our unwavering commitment to supporting the utilities and transmission operators shaping the next generation of energy infrastructure. For decades, Canada has been an important market for SEDIVER. Establishing a manufacturing presence in the country is a natural evolution of our partnership and reinforces our commitment to Canada’s long-term energy ambitions.”
Erik Goethlin, CEO, SEDIVER Group
“Our strategy is simple: manufacture closer to our customers, invest where long-term infrastructure growth is occurring, and contribute meaningfully to the resilience of the North American grid. This investment demonstrates our confidence in the Canadian market and our commitment to helping utilities deliver the transmission infrastructure required to support electrification, renewable energy integration, and economic growth for decades to come.”
Cleber Angelo, Head of the Americas Region, SEDIVER Group
“We are proud to support SEDIVER’s manufacturing expansion into Canada. This investment builds on Blackstone’s long-term commitment to investing in the country and our focus on supporting the critical energy infrastructure that underpins long-term economic growth.
David Foley, Global Head of Blackstone Energy Transition Partners
SEDIVER’s decision to establish its first Canadian manufacturing facility aligns with the shared interest of Canadian utilities, including BC Hydro, Hydro One Networks Inc. (Hydro One) and Hydro-Québec, in strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity, improving supply chain resilience, and supporting the long-term reliability of Canada’s electricity transmission network.
The project marks another important milestone in SEDIVER’s global growth strategy and reinforces the company’s position as a leading partner for utilities of modernizing and expanding critical transmission infrastructure.
Partner perspectives
“Canada’s electricity sector is growing, and that growth depends on access to critical electrical equipment. SEDIVER’s investment demonstrates the importance of long-term industry commitment to Canada’s electricity sector. By expanding manufacturing capacity in Canada, SEDIVER is helping strengthen supply chain resilience and support the infrastructure needed for the country’s future energy needs.”
Michael Powell, Vice President of Government Relations of Electricity Canada
“In Ontario and Canada, investments in the electricity system are needed to support a strong and reliable system that’s prepared for growth,” said Lindsay Zylstra, Vice President, Supply Chain, Hydro One. “Meeting this challenge will require strong collaboration with utilities, governments and industry partners across Canada. Investments like SEDIVER’s are strengthening the Canadian supply chain and helping to ensure we have the equipment needed to build an electricity system ready to power Ontario’s and Canada’s future.”
“Delivering Hydro-Québec’s plan depends on a strong and resilient supply chain. Strengthening our industrial base with partners such as SEDIVER is essential to securing the expertise, capabilities, and equipment needed to accelerate the energy transition towards more reliable energy.”
Marie-Hélène Pelletier, Vice-President, Strategic Sourcing Hydro-Quebec”
